Nola’s Nutria Nightmare

Gnawtide emerges from Louisiana’s waters and strides into New Orleans’s French Quarter. Flooded streets pulse with each step of the nutria kaiju, while wrought-iron balconies and gas lamps frame a city moving to an unfamiliar beat.

Part of The Great Emergence, the growing wave of kaiju encounters across the world. No confirmed cause unites the reports, and this creature’s appearance is one piece of the larger mystery.

Connected Encounters

Coastal Upheaval: Harbors, shorelines, and waterside cities become meeting points between urban life and colossal visitors. Reports from these places raise the same question: what is bringing the wild into the streets?
