Field Plate 11: Carcharolacerta Ferox

Study path: Uncertain Hybrids
Expedition journal: Drs. Jonathan and Amelia Blackwood

A long, fin-backed predator curls across the plate, its narrow jaws lined with teeth. Clawed limbs, a tapering tail, and unfamiliar structures beneath the body complicate its resemblance to a marine hunter. Supporting sketches keep the illustration focused on form and proportion.

The Blackwoods' Working Theory

The Blackwoods use the contrast between fins and grasping limbs as a prompt for further study. Such features may reflect a way of life unfamiliar to their own world; any claim about its hunting behavior or technological origin remains provisional.

Part of BBairt's fictional illustrated expedition into a kaiju kingdom where nature and technology reveal traces of an ancient civilization. These field notes expand the artwork's imagined world; the specimen's origins remain open to discovery.
